History
Wiley Hicks, Jr., Inc is a family-owned business that was founded in 1961 by Wiley Hicks, Jr. The company operated as Wiley Hicks, Jr. General Contractor until 1978 when it became Wiley Hicks, Jr., Inc. Wiley Hicks, Jr. remained as President/Owner until his retirement in 1992. Wiley Hicks, III, James P. Hicks and Matt Hicks basically grew up in the construction business, starting at a young age working during the summers and school holidays in the field.
James joined the firm full-time in 1983 after graduating from Texas Tech with Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology. He became Vice President of the Corporation in 1987 over seeing all projects and financial aspects of the company. James became sole Owner and President in June 1992 and remained in that position until his retirement in February 2019. The company still relies on his expertise from time to time as a consultant.
Wiley III moved into the office in 1979 as an assistant estimator, submittal and shop drawing manager and Project Manager. In May of 1992 he became Vice President of the company in charge of manpower and scheduling as well as Project Manager. In February 2019 Wiley became President and Owner of Wiley Hicks, Jr., Inc., the position he holds today.
Upon Graduation from Randall High School in 2005 Matt Hicks joined the Carpenters Union as an apprentice carpenter, graduating in 2008. From 2008 to 2012 Matt was lead carpenter foreman on several projects until being promoted to Project Superintendent. Matt moved into the office in 2018 as Project Manager and Lead Scheduler. He was promoted to Vice President in 2021.
